Who We Are and Why We Do This Work
At the Idaho Institute of Gender and Sex Therapy, we believe that therapy should be a space where you are seen, affirmed, and supported in the full complexity of who you are. Our practice was created to offer inclusive, trauma-informed care to individuals and relationships navigating questions of identity, sexuality, connection, and healing.
We specialize in working with LGBTQIA2S+ clients, including trans, non-binary, and gender-diverse individuals; as well as those exploring intimacy, relational dynamics, or the impact of past experiences. Whether you’re coming to therapy with a specific concern or simply seeking a space to grow, our mission is to walk alongside you with respect, understanding, and care.
Our therapists are highly specialized in gender & sexuality topics.
Inclusive therapy for individuals, relationships, and people navigating gender, identity, and connection.
Where all of you is welcome.
Support for exploring identity, healing from past experiences, and living more fully in your truth. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, depression, sexuality, life transitions, or questions around gender, our therapists offer a safe and affirming space to help you reconnect with yourself and grow with compassionate support.
How You Get Matched With a Therapist on Our Team
Finding the right therapist matters. When you reach out to us, we’ll ask a few simple questions about what’s bringing you to therapy, what kind of support you’re looking for, and any preferences you have, such as working with a specific identity, therapy style, or area of expertise.
From there, our team will thoughtfully review your responses and match you with a therapist whose skills and approach align with your needs. We’ll also consider logistics like availability, location, and insurance so your care is not only affirming, but also accessible.
If we’re not the right fit for any reason, we’re happy to offer referrals to other providers who may be. You deserve care that feels supportive and aligned from the start.
Our Leadership Team
The Idaho Institute of Gender and Sex Therapy was founded in 2018 in Boise, Idaho. Since then, we have steadily grown to have six full time therapists on our team.

Jeremy Irvin, LCSW, M.Ed., CST, CSTS
Owner and Lead Therapist
Jeremy Irvin (he/him) is the owner and founder of the Idaho Institute of Gender and Sex Therapy in Boise, Idaho. Growing up as a queer teen in a small rural Idaho town, Jeremy experienced firsthand the isolation that can come from feeling different. That experience shaped his lifelong commitment to helping others feel seen, supported, and less alone. He set out to create the kind of affirming, inclusive therapeutic space he wished had been available to him—one that welcomes and celebrates people of all identities and experiences.
After completing graduate school, Jeremy saw a significant need for accessible, specialized sex and gender therapy services in Idaho. Motivated to make a difference in his home state, he returned to Idaho and began building a group practice dedicated to inclusive, client-centered care for individuals across the spectrum of gender, sexuality, and relationship structures.
Jeremy is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 13 years of experience working with marginalized communities. He holds both a Master of Social Work and a Master of Education in Human Sexuality from Widener University. He is an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist and Supervisor, and a member of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH).
